Hot Pot is not only a cuisine but also a social gathering event! Cosy up with your friends and family this winter by having a nourishing hot pot at home! You may add anything you like or try something different this winter with carefully selected ingredients for a healthy balanced diet.
If you have never tried hot pot before, there are many soup bases you can choose from! There are Miso, Hot & Spicy, Kimchi, herbal tonic or chicken soup bases, and many other easily accessible choices from the supermarkets.
The ingredients of the hot pot are preferably a balance combination of carbohydrates, protein and vegetables, ideally one third of each.
Healthy carbohydrates can come from seasonal vegetable roots such as potatoes, yam, and burdock. Glass noodles and hokkian noodles are good source of carbohydrate too. Protein selection can be from seafood and meat, such as calamari, prawn, fish fillet, beef slice, lamb slice. Lastly, choose a variety of different coloured vegetables. Green leafy vegetables can include Tong ho, watercress and cabbage. Other good choices for a variety of vegetables may include winter melon, Tou Fu, carrot, mushrooms, corn, and lotus root.
After a big feast, do not forget to take a tea spoon of the Promote Digestion tea!
When you come to see Josephine for acupuncture therapy, feel free to ask for a dietary advice report based on your individual health conditions.
